I'm trying to lose some weight before the next bathing suit season. I'm trying to get more activity, but not have to change my eating habits too much. I was just using my dog and my wii to try to get my activity levels up, but I've joined a gym closer to work so that I can make it more convenient to fit my workouts in.

I've been at the gym every work day for a week now! I've kept up with spinning doing classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and lunch time elliptical and weight sessions on Tuesday and Thursday. Tonight is my last softball games...we'll see how tired I am after spinning AND softball in the same day.

There's one thing I can't figure out...I"m not losing weight. I'm am being really careful about what I eat, but I do let myself have some treats (ie - last night I had a beer). But I'm not going overboard with it and I've completely switched my snacks to fruits or vegetables and I'm eating smaller more frequent meals and drinking lots of water. I've actually gained two pounds in the past week and I haven't been this active since high school...what gives metabolism?

I went to a 6am spinning class this morning and really liked it. I haven't sweated like that for a long time, and I was taking it easy since I haven't done it for a long time. I expect that I will be pretty sore tomorrow, but I plan on going back for the 6am class on Monday :D

Okay, so I'm trying to get back in the swing of things. Today I decided that I am going to join the gym near my work to increase the possibility of using my lunch to work out. This might be hectic for the next few months, especially with school, but they partner with a gym close to my house, so it should work even if I need to go on weekends because I can hit the one near my house. It's expensive, but if I stick to it, it's worth it.

I can make time to exercise my dog, but not me...how messed up is that? Softball is ending very soon and I don't think I will play the fall season because I expect things to be too demanding with my last two classes. I should be done with school in December, but want to be well into a fitness routine that I can continue by then.

I'm back in the groove...

Work got pretty stressful for a while and the holidays came AND I got pretty sick. So I was away from home, spending a lot of time in bed and eating horribly.

I'd gained back the 5.5 pounds that I'd lost since I started tracking with Traineo, but I feel like I'm getting back on track. Some friends joined the same gym as me and we all went together last night. That felt really good. I started lifting weights again and signed up to work with a trainer at my gym for a free session next week. I tried to eat better yesterday and have done the same so far today. I even got my butt out of bed this morning and jogged for a bit with my dog.

I have volleyball tonight, so that will help get my activity level back up again, and although I will be going to visit some family out of town this weekend, they are pretty health-concious and I should still be able to get some activity in. Not to mention--I'm taking the Wii with me, so I'm sure I'll be playing a good amount of Wii sports this weekend.

I even went back to a chiropractor today to get adjusted and just start feeling better and more pain-free with all the stress I've been experiencing from work/school.

It feels like a really good week. :)

Keep up the good work Emily. This will be my first winter holiday season after my weight loss, so it is something I will struggle with as well. I'm trying to keep my morning and lunchtime meals pretty light so I won't feel so guilty if something good comes my way in the evening.

I was being really good until the weekend came along. Holiday parties are starting and I drank quite a bit and went out to eat a lot. I was still trying to get some exercise in though. I'm definitley suffering from some sleep deprivation as I am pretty stressed out between work/school and the approaching holiday.

If I can get some more sleep I hope my energy level will go back up. I tried to go to bed early last night, but for some reason Toby cried all night and needed to go out at 1 and 3:30 and I didn't have very much luck getting back to sleep.

Somehow though I have managed to lose weight. I stepped on the scale this morning and was down to 159.5, so something is working. I'm trying to keep up with my water consumption. My new fridge with ice/water in the door is helping.

Taking those vitamins! :) But not getting time to do my wii fitness tests everyday :(

So I spent about an hour tonight playing wii sports. Most of it was training. I was really working up a pretty good sweat...especially boxing, so I'm going to keep doing that. It was a lot of fun! My fitness age was 38 though. So darn...that went up. But I'm not sure if that was because I took the test before I trained or what. Anyway, it was a fun workout. My weight stayed the same, but I think my caloric intake was much lower today and my water intake was quite a bit higher.

I have been making small adjustments, like trying to pack healthier lunches and not eating out as much. I really don't drink anything but coffee (maybe 1 cup per day) water and beer, so the sodas aren't an issue for me as they are already a rarity. I'm lucky that my employer keeps our breakroom stocked with apples and oranges or pears and bananas and cereal (indiv serving boxes), so that is easy to grab for breakfast. Dinners and weekends have the ability to kill me! I know that I am a night eater, so I try not to eat dinner too early. I also try to keep drinking water in the evenings so I feel full and am less likely to snack. I'm trying hard not to drink much (if anything at all) on weeknights. If I do have a drink it must be early. I'm finding that I sleep better without it too!

I think my biggest hang up on dieting is that I know if I change my diet too much, that I will never be able to maintain it. I've tried Atkins for a while, and some other things, but I just need something I can live with. We all succumb to busy schedules and fast food sometimes. I just know I can't cut all that out completely and I don't expect to.

I saw in your profile that you don't want to change your eating habits too much. I made some small adjustments that weren't too painful that worked for me. First off, I cut out sugary drinks all-together. If I drank soda, it was diet, but mostly I drank water. When I did that, I lost 10 lbs before I even started exercising back in February. Secondly, I cut out what I called "bad lunch" which usually was a sandwich or hoagie of some sort, chips etc. I have a salad for lunch every day, and a piece of non-banana fruit. Then I allowed myself to eat whatever I wanted for dinner, but kept the portions reasonable. It worked pretty well for me, and I think it works well with a long term loss goal. Oh, and I ate NOTHING (except water) after 8 pm. That was the hardest to get used to for me, as I am a night owl and a night eater. But after a couple of months I got over it.

I got my wii and hooked it up on Tuesday and played for about 30 minutes the first night. It was already pretty late, so I didn't have that long. I took the age test and mine was 37 the first time. That's not so good but I hope to improve it. I really like tennis, and I watched boxing, but haven't tried it yet. These two look like good workouts, and I can't wait to get my heart rate up with them. I will keep trying to do age tests and training to see if I can get better.
